We aim to provide training in Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling which will serve as a springboard for later specialization in Educational Psychology, Measurement and Evaluation, Personnel, Vocational, Family, Marriage, Adolescent, Group Counselling specialists, Career Counselling and Rehabilitation Counselling.

Philosophy

The Departmental regular degree programme is designed to produce professionally qualified counselling Psychologists who can work in schools and non-school setting. It is equally designed to provide and improve the quality of education through the diversification of contents and methods and promoting experimentation, innovation and the diffusion and sharing of information. With the emerging new technologies, the Counselling profession is evolving from an emphasis on counsellor-centered, client-centered interactive changing environments. The role of counselling as a helping relationship, learning experience and a talking therapy helps in giving the individuals insight into the world of reality to know their strengths and weakness, their likes and dislikes and elope from the world of fantasy. To this end, the Department offers students the opportunity to become competent counselling psychologists on graduation for better services to the nation..
